Workstation Standards and Purchase Program

Description

Information Services (IS) consults directly with its preferred computer vendors, Dell and Apple, to determine which computer configurations best fit the needs of the University's Faculty and Staff (model, platform, etc). These workstations are then made available to Faculty and Staff for institutional and/or personal purchase by Faculty and Staff at a pre-determined rate. The workstations can also be purchased preinstalled with a standard, IS maintained NUnet image if desired.

Functionality/Benefits

For these workstations, the University negotiates vendor pricing that is lower than if customers were to purchase the computer directly from the vendor without using the supported web links and configurations. Information Services works with the vendors to influence the development of new computer models, test them in advance of release, and verify them for suitability for Northeastern use.

Service is available 24 x 7 x 365, except during planned maintenance and upgrades.

Support

Support is provided by Information Services during Service Desk hours of 7:00am - 12 midnight Monday - Saturday, except during holidays and intersession. To obtain assistance with this service, please contact the Service Desk at 617-373-4357.
