Basic Facts about the Free Print Quota for Faculty

Did you know?

  • On September 1, 2007, Northeastern University implemented the Free Print Quota program for all students, faculty and staff. Each individual will be able to print up to 400 pages free of charge per print period in NU Information Services managed computer labs as part of the new Free Print Quota program.
  • Several other colleges in the Boston area have already implemented similar Free Print Quota and Pay For Print programs
  • The details of the Free Print Quota program were established by the Student Government Association and Information Services.
  • The Free Print Quota program is only in effect in IS managed labs (office computers and general-use departmental computers are excluded)
  • Students, Faculty and Staff can print one copy of a document and bring it to Reprographics to make copies without cutting into the Free Print Quota.
  • As a Faculty member, you can help your students cut down on required printing by showing them how to be more effecient. Show them how to print several Powerpoint slides per page, rather than one slide per page:
    1.  With the Powerpoint presentation open, click File > Print...
    2.  In the lower left hand corner, under 'Print What', select 'Handouts' and then select how many slides per page.
